Life As It Is As A Christian

Having gone through a small important phase of life, I've realized how important friends are to us. They are there to support and give us courage to lift ourselves up from the dirt that we're fallen into. And to that, I realized too, that I only have TWO good friends, thats Nigel and Hing Yoong. Both of them, my childhood friends. Both of them, happily married to their preferred spouses and expecting babies end of this year! Grats to both of them :)

I do envy(in a good way) and at the same time feel very happy for them for being able to settle down quickly and have a family of their own. For me of course, is a different matter altogether. However, I will not give up on her, till she says its over. I'm a fool in love, I believe that the world would not exist if there isn't love. Love makes things work, love makes people work, love creates hope. On a different perspective, love can be hurtful, it can be deceiving, it can bring bad decisions, it can bring even in some cases, suicides.

Whichever way you look at it, it's gonna be a big part of our lives. The sacrifices we make, the secrets we keep, the effort we take, the decisions we make, all for the sake of love. The Bible indicates that love is from God. In fact, the Bible says "God is love." Love is one of the primary characteristics of God. Likewise, God has endowed us with the capacity for love. This capacity for love is one of the ways in which we are "created in the image of God".

As a Catholic Christian, I believe in love. I shall quote a verse from the Bible.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

I've highlighted the parts in which truly perceives the meaning of love by God's words.
His love remains unconditional to us, the human race. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

These two verses has given new meaning of life to me. As God's chosen people, as we are created in the IMAGE OF GOD, we should try our best to be like Him, giving unconditional love with all our hearts. Of course, we have our own weaknesses as we ARE human after all. The temptation of man is something in which even Jesus' most loved apostles would have fallen into, however, there is always, redemption, reconciliation and forgiveness.

I do hope and pray one day, I will be able to find a person who shares the same idea of Love with me and live with me for the rest of my life. :)
